Energy
The Casper Area has a long history and reputation in the oil and gas industry across the West, many local businesses are still exclusively tied to that industry. With the rising demand for natural gas across the country and a large oil and gas project planned in the area over the next 40+ years, companies are optimistic. However, Advance Casper still believes diversification is necessary to sustain the community when a future down cycle occurs. Two specific targets were identified that leverage existing regional strengths and is compatible with Casper’s envisioned future:
- Petrochemical
- Renewables & Wind Energy
Petrochemical
With technology advancements in alternative uses for fossil fuels, there are great opportunities to utilize the local supply and crossing pipelines to create new and advanced products from Wyoming’s fossil fuels. Need to add note on UW R&D interests and focus.
Wind Energy
In the spring of 2017, Advance Casper launched an initiative to begin creating a cluster of wind energy component manufacturers in the area. The rail and highway transportation logistics and complementary companies located in and around Casper along with the reliable energy source make it an ideal location to serve the surrounding new wind development and retrofit projects planned over the next several years.
